How to Stop Comparing Yourself & Start Improving the Present

  • Why Should you Stop Comparing yourself with others?

The Rich are competing to get more money, keeping it and spending it as they wish, on what they wish, and the poor are competing to sell vegetables at the market, give you a ride in their taxi, clean your clothes & shine your shoes. We all are in-between “rich” and “poor,” who are competing to become better than the people in our surrounding and “get ahead.”

Most of us are dissatisfied with ourself. It’s human nature. We always find colleagues, friends and relatives who are richer, better looking and more successful than us.

Do you Know the grass always looks greener on the other side of the fence?

“Why compare yourself with others? No one in the entire world can do a better job of being you than you.” ~Unknown

Life isn’t a competition; it is a journey. Only Competition here is with yourself. Compete with yourself and you’ll see growth in your life. When you compete with yourself, you start with the old version of you and work on becoming the new & better version of you.

  • How to Start Improving  yourself in present?

Ask yourself how can you become a new and improved version of yourself? – Improving your performance & habits. If you have to compete, compete with your own potential. Trying your best and not succeeding is not the failure. The real failure is in not even trying or trying but not giving it your best shot.

Busy is cool now, which is great if you’re someone who needs a busy schedule to feel happy and productive. But being a person who spends some time at nights watching movies is cool, too.

Consider these factors in your life & think – are you really happy and satisfied?

  • Quality hours of sleep
  • Stress Level
  • Happy Working Hours
  • Type of Work you do for living and Working Environment
  • Vacation Days in Last Year
  • Time for doing activities you love apart from work likes movies, music, reading, dancing, learning, creating, etc
  • Time for loved ones and family, friends
  • Time for yourSelf

  • How to truly live in the present

“The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, worry about the future, or anticipate troubles, but to live in the present moment wisely and earnestly.” Buddha

Living in the past or the future not only takes away your of enjoyment today, but it also takes away your truly living. The only important moment is the present. If you’re not living in the present, you’re living in the illusion. Live in as much of today as you possibly can – the views, the sounds, the smells, the emotions, the joy, and the sorrow.

Dream big & Set goals and plans for the future. Working hard today is always the first step towards achieving your goals tomorrow. Don’t allow worrying about tomorrow to replace living in today.
